Pride 2012

So I went up to SF on Sunday with the intent to dance my butt off and partake of the Pride festivities.

Instead, what happened was that we spent a lot of time looking for alcohol and bathroom, and as a result didn't really get to hang out at pride. In fact, we ended up spending most of the time at our friend's restaurant (he's a bartender) and drinking.

My drink! A refreshing PBR, but it was $5 at the liquor store! The line was ridiculously long because we bought it at a store that was on the corner of where Pride was happening. It was so busy in there that most of the cashiers were cash only, and they pretty much priced everything however they felt like it. But, it was very refreshing and definitely hit the spot.

I was drinking it from the can in a straw. I know now why people don't drink beer with straws. This is what will happen. Foam! Gross!

At first, Alex did his typical smile. I'm trying to coach him out of doing that, so I told him not to do that pose and he ended up with this, which is sadly enough better. He said that he looked up articles on how to be more photogenic, and while his tips are interesting and may be valid (clench eyebrows together, clench back molars, number of teeth allowed showing while smiling), I still think that knowing how to look natural on camera may be best.

Top shelf alcohol! All these drinks are on a floating glass shelf suspended above the bar area.

Mr. Bartender is the guy in the black... tank top? I don't know what to call it. He made us a few drinks. Unfortunately, I am decidedly not a whiskey drinker. I can drink it, but sometimes it's too much of a smokey taste for me. Bleh.

We did eat a lot that day too, but I'm trying to break the habit of taking pictures of the food I'm eating. I guess I don't like being that Asian person who keeps taking pictures of their food... but who am I kidding. Let me show you an example here...
Click on the picture to get to the link for the blog... yes, that is me and the boyfriend. I don't know if I should feel self conscious or not. Hide me!

You know, for someone who went up to SF to go partake of the Pride parade, I have no idea why I didn't take any pictures of that, but instead took pictures while we were hanging out at the restaurant.
Two bartenders and my boyfriend. Yea, let's just end that day on this note.

Today though, I got to hang out with one of my girlfriends! We've been friends since grade school! We didn't get to hang out for a long time, just had lunch. I feel like as I get older, there is less and less time for friends because everyone's schedules don't match up, so I was really glad we got to hang out!

We went to a restaurant that I went to when I was just out of high school. It now operates under a different name, but I remembered that their calzones and their hot sandwiches were really good. Plus, she was hellbent on getting a mimosa (and she even got a beermosa) so...

Our food. I know I didn't want to be "that Asian" but I was trying to get a picture of my friend taking a picture of the food and I was too late. At least you get to see what I eat. Her calamari was the saddest plate I had ever seen. $10 for such a pathetic amount of calamari. What a downer. Also, I ordered extra mayo on the side and I never saw it. Sadness! But my food was really good. I felt like the food was the same, and their extra slow service was also the same.

And the obligatory post of myself! I realize that in my last picture I have purple hair. If you know me from other blogs, you'll see that I had blonde hair, then purple, and now I'm at dark brown/burgundy because I'm waiting for the purple dye to fade out so I can strip the color and go back to my glorious blonde again. But really, the dark brown isn't bad.

Altogether, it has been a really fun past couple of days!
